Nane Batool's Story

The story of a grandmother who treated bread with respect. From the book “Nane Batool's Bread”, illustrated by Mahsa Valizadeh.

  1. 1

Not so long ago, in a beautiful village called Golestan, there lived an old woman named Nane Batool. Every morning, before the sun rose over the mountains, she woke up early and got ready to bake bread.

  2. 2

With her big stone mortar she ground the wheat into soft white flour, mixed it with water into dough, and baked bread.

  3. 3

The smell of fresh, delicious bread filled the whole village, and everyone knew Nane Batool was baking.

  4. 4

“Nane! Your bread smells and tastes so good. Why?” Nane Batool smiled and said: “My boy, bread is precious to us. That's why every step of baking it needs care, patience and time.”

  5. 5

Kneading the dough, Nane Batool looked at her grandson and said: “Love… if you love your work, you will surely do it well.”

  6. 6

Years passed and Hossein grew up. In memory of his grandmother, he named the bread made in his factory “Nane Batool”.
